WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO:
– 17:00 Welcome to the gastronomic society.
We will enter into a typical Basque Gastronomic Society and before starting the competition, you will break the ice by tasting a “Pikoteo” snack based on local and natural foods accompanied by a drink while we talk about the history and functions of Basque gastronomic societies.
*Gastronomic societies: are where you can experience the region’s gastronomy for first hand. The love of food and social dining is what brings together family groups and friends to cook top quality ingredients with loving care
*Pikoteo: Is the style of enjoying different plates of food from the middle of the table, that we will share among the people present at the meal.
– 17:30 Pintxo Contest
If something characterizes the Basque cuisine it would be the pintxos, true miniature works of art that delight any kitchen lover. The time has come for the truth, you will put on the apron and start making your own pintxos.
A local chef will be observing the competition. You will be divided into different groups. Each group will have a table, where they will prepare and present 5 pintxos and a dessert. On the table, you will find the necessary ingredients to create one of the pintxos, but not the instructions … to experiment!
Once you have made your creations, try the 5 pintxos and the dessert, served with a local drinks and followed by the distribution of awards. Let the fun begin !
